Our Story

How We Started

Tampa Bay Performing Arts Academy was born out of Mrs. Lisa's  12-year-old desire to establish a place for children who love the arts to gather.   While she didn't attend to that goal immediately,  and instead pursued her own music career, it came back in 2008 when her mother and manager was very sick with cancer.

Mrs. Sandy was given less than a 10% chance of survival but was determined to fight on.  During a bedside talk,  Sandy suggested to  Lisa that if she survived they should direct and produce a Disney Musical.  Mrs. Lisa promised her mother if she survived they would.  And they did.

How it Grew

The first production this mother-daughter duo produced was Disney's Cinderella KIDS.  They rehearsed in a local church, had 8 students, and rented the Catherine Hickman Theater in Gulfport for their first production.

The program continued to grow, they moved from the church to their own location, and now have over 130 students and have produced over 50 productions.
